About Syncronos Design

Syncronos Design, Inc. is the creator of original documentary films, and a full service design and visual effects studio. Founded in 1990, the business has grown from a small team of dedicated designers to a full film production company, specializing in animation, product visualization, architectural rendering, motion control cinematography, time-lapse photography, and post-production effects.

We promote green technology and we walk the talk. 100% of our electrical power comes from solar panels on our building. This greatly reduces our carbon footprint by using a clean and sustainable energy source. We are also the publisher of the book and DVD video, Building With Awareness: The Construction of a Hybrid Home, which gives step-by-step instruction on building a green, solar powered house. Syncronos Design is located in Corrales, New Mexico and we work with companies nationwide and around the world.

Meet Our Team

Ted Owens is Producer/ Director/Cinematographer at Syncronos Design. A native of Los Angeles, Ted Owens attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, graduating with honors in 1981. Ted began his professional career as a designer and director of multi-image shows for such clients as Mattel, GTE, Southern California Edison, and Computer Sciences Corporation. During this period he also made a number of industrial and documentary films and in 1984 he was part of the team that produced the first computer-generated IMAX film, The Magic Egg. Spurred by a lifelong interest in environmental issues, Ted formed his own company—Syncronos Design—in 1988 with the goal of promoting sustainable design. Ted designed and built his current home in New Mexico—a structure which is extremely energy-efficient, and which has been the subject of numerous newspaper and magazine articles, both for its ecological aspects and its aesthetics. Ted documented the entire building process of his house on film and video, creating from this footage the award-winning DVD-video Building with Awareness, and a companion book with the same title. Building with Awareness has been profiled in such publications as The Washington Post and Su Casa magazine.
